The 'Other' Side of the Garden - part 2

A perfect spot to rest for a while and enjoy the beauty of nature.

I love the meandering pathways. But which way should I go? Right or left?

Still a few camellias left on this bush next to some lovely white azaleas.

I made my way down to this 'staircase' and approached but didn't go any further.  But I will go back and explore some more to see where it leads.

On my way out I came across these beautiful trees. Not sure if they are cherry blossoms, but they are just breathtaking in person!

A few more....

Mobile Botanical Gardens -- The "Other" Side

When I went back Saturday, I decided to do some more exploring. What I found was even more beautiful than what I had already seen. It was more untamed, yet still beautifully kept.  The potential for further exploration abounds, and I hope to go back when I have more time and a willing explorer to make the trip even more exciting!

Who could resist crossing this bridge to see what was beyond?

The welcome committee! How could I not continue?

The view from the bridge. But how do I get there?

A lovely splash of color beckoning me to keep going.  Much more lay ahead.

Just enough beautiful treats to keep me interested. So I kept going.

Bunches of daffodils on either side of the grassy path, guiding the way. I knew exactly where to go, but how could it get more lovely than this? Little did I know what was around the curve ahead of me.

More to come.....

Saturday at the Botanical Gardens

Now that I have 'discovered' this place, I love going there! Mainly I'm seeking azaleas in full bloom, and they are finally beginning to cooperate.  It may be a few more days until they are really at their peak so I will just keep checking.  But I did some exploring and found 'the other side of the garden' yesterday.  Take a look at these photos and enjoy!

Beautiful daffodils on the approach to the benches.

Follow the yellow brick road!!!

I thought I saw the tin woodsman behind those trees!

The pictures really don't show the true beauty of these flowers.

The bright orange azaleas are not common.

I'm not sure what these little blue beauties are; I only saw this one little planting.

The morning was rather cloudy, but it was still a lovely day. There were preparations for an Easter egg hunt going on nearby, so I'm surprised I didn't encounter more people on the paths.

I will have more pictures of the 'other side' in my next post.

Time for Spring Planting!

Yesterday was the spring plant sale at Mobile Botanical Gardens.  I wasn't looking for plants, just azaleas in full bloom.  Unfortunately, most have not yet bloomed out. Guess I'll have to go back again. Darn.
Meanwhile,  I hope you enjoy these pictures.

You Know It's Spring When.....

The Mobile Botanical Gardens has its semi-annual plant sale.  I've attended these for several years, although I rarely purchase anything. They do specialize in native plants, which is good. I just like to go and look around and get ideas.

This year's sale will be held March 26-28.  I've attached some photos that I took at the sale last October.

Admission to the gardens is free and tours are self-guided, which makes it nice if you are in the mood to explore.

My daughter snapped the shots of this beautiful butterfly. I probably followed him around for ten minutes waiting for him to hold still.

The herb garden.

I plan to go back again this year when the azaleas will be in bloom (hopefully) and get some pictures along some of the lovely winding paths.
